Home...

  1. Our home for the next three months above. I feel like I’m living in the woods of Nevada, though I’ve never been. Our American friend, Rachel, agrees, but she’s never been to Nevada either.
  2. YOU ARE HERE dot via Google. Don’t know how much you can see, but there’s a main building where we dine. Our cabin or ‘banda’ is just up the hill. By up the hill I think it’s equivalent to about three or four flights of stairs. Good exercise everyday :)
  3. It is cold here. Cold. I said it. I know we’re Canadians living in Africa but it is chilly because we’re at elevation. Ten to fifteen degrees celsius overnight, which isn’t cold per se but remember there is no heating and little insulation.
  4. One week of Swahili school down. And let me tell you, there’s nothing like the humility of learning a language in adulthood…when your teach has to talk e…x….t…..r…..a………s….l……o…..w and then repeat repeat herself again, when you can barely remember basic words like cat and dog (paka and mbwa, btw) and when even saying the date takes, literally, a minute. But this is what we’ve signed up for, to the glory of God!
